Rare Mazda 323 GTRAdvert ID: 42928 £1,750 GBP
For sale here is a very rare Mazda 323 GTR 4x4. I imported this car from Japan myself in 2002 so I have been the only owner of it since it has been in the UK. Full documentation will come with the car.
Having used it as my daily driver for many years it became a project car when i got a company car. It is sadly a project that I never got time to complete and now a new baby forces a very reluctant sale.
It has only done around 8K miles since it was imported however it has a number of issues which would need resolving to get it operational again as it has been under cover for around 6 years now.
The main issue is that the valve stem seals have gone on the head. These costs roughly £20 in parts but requires the cams and valves to be removed to replace. I narrowed the issue down to this having changed the cylinder head gasket and having the IHI roller bearing turbo stripped back and new bearing installed (£450 job which has done less than 100 miles). Other than that the engine was running perfectly, although it has not been fully built for a while. The engine is an MX5 block and head but with shot peened rods and pistons to enable it to cope with the extra power from the huge turbo, which can run up to 2bar boost safely.
As this was going to be a purely track use car there is no interior, however if you were to convert this to track / rally use them you wouldn't need the standard interior anyway.
The bodywork is overall in good condition. There are a few minor marks on the bonnet (see images). The drivers side front wing is a bit bent where the door catches it so would probably need to be replaced but other than that it is in very good condition for it's age. I have the various exterior trims that are missing in the images, except the window edge strips as this snapped off.
The car is being sold as seen and comes with a whole range of spare parts. It was fitted with a K+N induction kit and 3" turbo back exhaust and a ported waste gate so when running it was generating around 320bhp meaning it was incredibly quick due to being very light weight. It is also fitted with 17" multispoke alloys and Toyo Proxies tyres running through the 4wd LSD system (43/57 split).
The spares include:
Huge front mount intercooler - this is brand new and was never fitted.
Spare brake master cylinder - Still packaged
4 into 1 manifold - not sure this fits though as never got as far as trying
The engine issue could easily be sorted for around £1k. Less if you have the tools and know how to do it yourself.
These care are very rare. They only ever made 1200 in the world in line with Group A homologation rules along with 300 GTAe versions.

I am listing this at £2.5K due to the very rare nature of these cars. I think there has only ever been 10 of them in the UK. Due to this it is very hard to know what price level to list this at so i am open to offers as well as long as they are reasonable ones. With £2k spent on this you would have a very quick car that's amazing fun to drive.
I am not splitting the car for parts either as i need to sell it as a complete car.
