For sale as I have no time to use it is my MSA Logbooked 1980 Vauxhall Chevette which started life as a very good rust free shell.
Engine is a Vauxhall 20XE. The block is a 1.8nz which has been rebored to 86mm so now a standard 2.0 bore.
Omega Intruder pistons fitted with h beam steel rods.
The head is fully ported and polished with a mirrored finish to exhaust ports and combustion chamber.
Valve gear consists of a set of QED 450 cams with new solid lifters and double valve springs, finished off with a pair of Kent cam vernier pulleys.
Lubrication is provided by a wet sump which has been baffled and contains gates to limit oil surge it's the next best thing to a dry-sump system.
The oil pump has a new SBD gear kit accompanied by a Teflon relief valve.
There is also a 10-row oil cooler and remote oil filter fitted.
Fuel is provided by a pair of pressure fuel pumps feeding a swirl pot which contains a Bosch high-pressure pump the fuel tank is a standard tank modified to run fuel injection.
The engine has Jenvey 45 direct to head throttle bodies.
It has a coil pack ignition system which is controlled by a Motorsport Electronics ME221 ECU.
At present, it is only running a base map and really needs mapping to release its full potential an engine of this spec should produce in the region of 240 bhp.
Coupled to the engine is a 5-speed gearbox from an RX8 a popular choice as its strong quiet with ratios that suit the engine characteristics.
The clutch is a 4 rotor paddle clutch with a heavy-duty clutch cover.there is a one-piece bar prop shaft made specifically for this type of transmission set up. At the rear, there is a standard Atlas axle with a new ZF Motorsport limited-slip kit fitted combined with a 4.6: 1 crown wheel and pinion which has been reassembled with a new bearing kit.
The front suspension has been completely overhauled with new Ball joints poly bushes and wheel bearings. damping is provided by a set of new Gaz adjustable front shocks with 240 lb front springs and a standard anti-roll bar again poly bushed. The steering rack is a new quick rack with new inner rack ends and track rod ends.
There is a new heavy-duty steering coupling connecting this to a modified steering column benefiting from a Corsa b electric power steering modification. The rear suspension consists of a 5 linked group4 escort box kit and escort turrets. The rear coil overs are again Gaz adjustable escort fitment with 180 lb springs. All the hubs are ford fitment and are fitted with a set of revolution alloy wheels.
Braking is provided by a Compbrake bias pedal box couple to GSi Vectra front calipers and rs 500 discs, the rear are Fiesta rear discs and VW golf calipers.
The hand brake is hydraulic but also has cables to comply with the MOT regulations.
Safety is provided by a bespoke Gareth Bettinson welded in cage.
There is a latest spec Fully plumbed in fire extinguisher kit.
When built a year ago it also had New poly carb windows, new heated screen, new OMP seats and TRS 6 point harnesses, future proof for many years.
The body has benefited from a complete back to metal respray in rs burnt orange which really suits the car also the interior has also been painted in matching paint the interior is finished off with alloy door cards and rear trims
The boot floor/ firewall is alloy checker plate The car has been finished to a very high standard with nearly 90% new parts used where available.
