Escort RS1800 Group 4 Historic Rally Car
Escort RS1800 Group 4 Historic Rally Car. The car was built with all new components purchased from Rix Engineering and Historic Rallysport. The specification is; Nikesil 2.0 litre BDG with 3 stud cylinder head, Laystall crank and Arrow rods, Using 48 DCOE’s, and beautifully made custom Primary Designs exhaust manifold. With the engine producing a very drive-able 248BHP, it was built by Geoff Page. The race ZF gearbox has just been checked over by it’s original builder Martin Jones. Fully floating Atlas axle with 5:1 CWP, vented AP Racing rear brakes and Historic Rallysport LSD unit and new half shafts. Rear suspension is fitted with multi leaf slipper springs and Reiger dampers. The front suspension consists of double cranked tension struts with Historic legal adjustable track control arms, Gartrac billet stub axles and Monte Carlo front brakes. Fitted with Reiger dampers front and rear again from Historic Rallysport which benefit from Latvala’s valving specifications. Bespoke wiring loom was made by David Young. The car was fitted with underbody protection from new. The shell had a full dummy build before painting, the fabrication is to a fantastic standard with a multipoint weld in Custom Cages roll cage and the period build was continued to this very high standard with exceptional attention to detail. Car comes complete with FIA paperwork and very nice identity “HAO482V” has used by Bill Dobie in the late eighties with KARCHER livery, and this was the last MK2 Escort to win the British National Championship.
