1989 Toyota Celica ST165 Toyota Challenge CarAdvert ID: 43742 $40,000 NZD
This is a 1989 Toyota Celica ST165.
It is a factory built rally car that was used in a series called the Toyota Challenge. There were only a handful of these cars built and they were all stickered up to replicate Carlos Sainz's Monte Carlo car.
In the early 90's it was shipped to NZ and was used by Carlos Sainz as a recce car for rally NZ. Following this event it was shipped back to Japan where it competed for a couple more years before it was retired from competition.
Its next part of its life is currently unknown.
It was then found in Japan (effectively a barn find) and shipped back to NZ by it's first NZ owner. It spent it's first few years in Christchurch before moving to Auckland.
It spent a few years with the original owner before we purchased it in 2016.
