Vauxhall Firenza Historic Stage Rally CarAdvert ID: 45492 £34,500 GBP
Due to retirement from Stage Rallying I am selling my Vauxhall Firenza Historic Stage Rally Car. Before the 2019 Roger Albert Clark Rally the car underwent a full rebuild including a new AMAC Engineering 2.3L single cam engine, new Heavy Duty Rocket Gearbox (legal for CAT 2 Historic Rally Class) and the Salisbury 4HA Axle was rebuilt by Ian Jemison Engineering. The car was professionally built from a bare shell and completed in 2014. It is painted in the livery of George Hill’s Martin Group Car that competed on the 1974 Lombard RAC Rally and then went on to win the Castrol Autosport Championship in 1975.
In the early 1970’s the Firenza was Vauxhall’s alternative to the MK1 Escort and proved to be competitive on both Road and Stage Rallies. Whilst not having the ultimate power of a BDA the 2.3 Litre slant 4 engine had bags of torque which made it a really driveable car at home on gravel or asphalt surfaces.
The car is currently running in gravel spec with a 2.3L single cam engine having around 190 – 200 bhp running on 45 DCOE Webers. It has a full supporting spec including Bilstein Dampers, negative camber and strengthened front suspension, high ratio rack, Bias pedal box with Historic AP 4 pot callipers and vented discs at the front, hydraulic hand brake, AP Clutch, heavy duty propshaft Tony Law manifold & Exhaust System.
GP4 Fabrication Alloy Fuel Tank, Twin Facet Pumps and all fuel and brake lines in aeroquip. Bespoke competition wiring loom with fused links. The car sits on Revolution 8 spoke wheels and DMack Forest Tyres.
Seats are in date to 2025 and harnesses are new. The car has a Motorsport UK log book and HRVIF papers. A spares package will be included in the sale and more photos and details of the car can be found at Wizbangfabrication.co.uk.
This car is ready to compete on the 2021 Roger Albert Clarke, any of the 2022 Historic Rally Championships or just to enjoy driving on demonstration type events which are becoming more popular. With the matching CF Service Van in Martin Group Colours it certainly attracts the interest of spectators and the media.
Also for sale by separate negotiation is the matching Bedford CF Service Van (in Martin Group Livery) renovated and fully kitted out to support the Firenza. See the website for photos.
A demonstration test session may be available for serious prospective purchasers and help if required with running the car in the future in terms of technical support & on event servicing etc. is open for discussion. The car and Van are available for viewing in East Yorkshire by appointment.
