Description

We are delighted to offer this 1980 Le Mans class-winning and 2014 CER Championship winning Chevron B36. B36-76-04 was delivered to Fred Stalder's Racing Organisation Course (ROC) in 1976 and is the latest development of Derek Bennett’s hugely successful 2-litre sports prototype. '04' has continuous ownership from new, and has never badly damaged during its long racing career. Remarkably, the car has bravely competed in five Le Mans 24hrs between 1976 and 1980, ultimately culminating in a class win at in its final year at La Sarthe.

Following its Le Mans success, 04 went on to win the French Group 6 Championship in 1982 and again in 1984 with new owner Jean-Claude Ferrarin. Ultimately it was fitted with closed cockpit bodywork and converted to Group C2 specifications. Re-badged as the Isolia, it was then campaigned until 1986 first with a BMW and then Cosworth DFV power – always maintaining its original chassis.

Following its final outing in August 1986, the car's 11-season contemporary career finally came to an end. In 2007, the much-raced machine was acquired from Ferrarin by Jean-Marie Belleteste. Using marque expert Vin Malkie, Belleteste restored chassis 04 to its original B36 specification, with the lightweight chassis being fitted with a new and competitive Ford Cosworth BDG engine from Geoff Richardson. Early in 2009, the restored B36 joined the stable of Belgian historic racer Marc Devis, who campaigned it briefly that season, before it joined Sandy Watson’s highly-competitive racing collection. He raced the car extensively in the Classic Endurance Racing series, and in 2014, in the hands of ace racer Martin O'Connell, it won the ‘CER 2’ Championship.

The car is ready to race, with fuel tanks, belts, extinguisher all in-date. Engine is a latest spec Geoff Richardson with very low miles, having only taken part in one weekend with the current owner. FIA HTP papers are in-date until 2025.
