Morgan AR V6 Championship Winning Race Car On its introduction in 2014 (at £60K), the 320bhp ARV6 was the most powerful racing car that Morgan had ever sold.

2017 Morgan Challenge Championship winning car following 10 outright wins from 11 races in the hands of 19-year old Scot, Elliot Patterson

Nearly £3K spent with Brands Hatch Morgan on pre-season inspection and preparation – on the button and ready to race

In simply immaculate condition. A rare and valuable Morgan

On its introduction in 2014, the ARV6 was the most powerful racing car that Morgan had ever sold and the ultimate race-prepared Morgan. Based on their 3.7-litre V6 Roadster, the ARV6 benefited from a range of track-focused enhancements and was the first-ever Morgan to feature 5-link rear suspension and a body that has no doors with a weight-saving heightened passenger side panel. Also aiming to reduce weight as much as possible, a lightened battery, brake system, split-billet wheels and interior were all utilised, ensuring a dry weight of 850kg. Technical enhancements included a digital dashboard display, a first for any Morgan, a 320bhp ECU with single mass flywheel and a modified timing chain tensioner resulting in a Marque-best, power to weight ratio of 376bhp per tonne.

Morgan’s motorsport division, AR Motorsport, were very bullish with Press Releases stating the ARV6 “has been designed with one thing in mind – competing in motorsport and winning races. While offering performance and handling that goes beyond any Morgan produced race car that has previously been available, AR Motorsport assures prospective buyers that the ARV6 will be - the perfect Morgan race car for experienced racers and novices alike.”

However, it wasn’t to be as, given its comprehensive specification, it simply wasn’t commercially viable. Only six were built and five of these remain in the UK.

Over recent years, several ARV6 have competed in the Morgan Challenge Series, now in its 42nd year, a one-make series featuring at circuits around the UK. The challenge regularly attracts significant grids, with Morgans racing in many classes, the competition is fierce, and the gentlemanly spirit of the series has earned a high level of respect among fellow motorsport enthusiasts.

For the 2017 season, the Matte Black ARV6 on offer here was entered by Revolutions Morgan, the official Morgan (& AR Motorsport) Dealership based in Scotland, to be driven by their young Scottish protégé, 19-year old Elliot Paterson. Elliot had made waves since his racing debut and was the youngest winner of the AR Motorsport Morgan Challenge taking victory in 2016 at age 18 and 2017 was to prove no different with the Scottish racer dominating the 2017 championship with 10 wins, 11 fastest laps and 4 lap records, wrapping up the series with two races to go. The Race Results from the whole season are in the history file.

VO67 GXP was purchased by our vendor in May of last year (2020) and registered for the shortened, post-lockdown, Morgan Challenge season. Invoices from Brands Hatch Morgans for pre-season inspection and preparation totalling around £2,700 detail our vendor’s expenditure getting the car just the way he wanted it, on the button and ready to race. However, as we are all aware, things didn’t pan-out in the way we hoped and the car was consequently unused and is now available due to a change of plans.

As with any competition car, it’s recommended that prospective purchasers check the validity and currency of any safety-related equipment.

In a slightly menacing Matte Black with some amazing futuristic detailing, this ARV6 is undoubtedly the coolest Morgan racer on the planet and, given that only six were built globally at over £60,000 new, and that this immaculate example dominated the 2017 Morgan Challenge, it would take a brave man to say no at this very sensible guide.
