Sierra Cosworth Group A Eggenberger Replica
The iconic Eggenberger Texaco Group A Sierras dominated the European Touring Car Championship in 1988, driven by Steve Soper and Pierre Dieudonné. Always incredibly fast and beautifully prepared they set the standard for touring cars of this fabulous era. This stunning Texaco-liveried Sierra Cosworth was constructed as a no-expense spared tribute to these cars. Starting with the last known genuine, right-hand drive 909 Sierra shell in existence, genuine RS Cosworth panels and parts were sourced and the highly reputable Ford engine builder, Ric Wood, was brought in to assemble the YB powerplant. Featuring a '200' block, modified head, custom profile camshafts, Pectel engine management, T3 hybrid turbocharger and Mongoose side-exit exhaust, the engine has been built to handle 500bhp, but is currently limited (36mm restrictor) to 360 bhp with 400 lb/ft of torque. The suspension features AVO remote reservoir three-way adjustable dampers with custom top mounts. The front brakes are AP Racing 5000 four-piston calipers with 320mm discs, the rears are standard RS Cosworth. The gearbox is a close-ratio Borg Warner T5 five-speed gearbox with very tall first gear and straight cut 5th. It has a Gripper limited-slip differential and pedal box that has been custom built by Historic Race Car Preparations. The final build was managed by race car specialist Anthony Seddon, and also benefited from input from the technical director of AVO, who assisted with the suspension setup. The car proved to be highly successful from its first meeting in October 2013, where it qualified on the front row and scored second and first places. More successes followed in the 2014 CTRC pre-93 Touring Car series, culminating in an outright win at the season-closer in Spa. Carefully stored since 2015 the car is in absolutely superb condition throughout, and is complete with 9 immaculate spare wheels and several boxes of spares.
