SUPER TOURING DODGE STRATUS, REQUIRES FINISHING 1996
This is an exceptional and rare opportunity to acquire a very famous race car with exceptional history from the golden era of super touring cars when they were built like F1 cars by factory teams with no regards to budgets. Similar ready to race cars are appreciating rapidly and currently priced in the £100,000-150,000 bracket. This car offers an exciting opportunity as it requires finishing. Eligible for the HSCC super touring series, which is very prestigious with many famous drivers competing at events like the Silverstone Classic, and a likely candidate for high profile events like the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Please don't confuse this with later touring cars which were modified production based, this car was purpose built from scratch at a cost of millions of dollars by Dodge/Chrysler in association with Pacwest and Reynard.
This car finished runner up in the 1996 NASTCC in its first year with Dominic Dobson (Ex. Indy 500, CART and Le Mans) then totally dominated and won the championship outright the following year. It was then sold to Thomas Engstrom who competed with it in the Swedish Touring Car Championship. This car is featured throughout the two NASTCC yearbooks seen in the photo, both signed by Dobson.
It's also featured in its STCC scheme in and on the cover of the STCC computer game. The car is complete rolling shell with all original brakes (twin 4 pot front and 2 pot rear) suspension/steering/subframes etc. Original X trac 206 6 speed sequential magnesium gearbox (requires a cluster) PI research dash, X trac gear shift, Anti roll bar adjusters, In date seat and belts, Quick release steeirng wheel, Pedals, Dummy engine fitted but with lots of parts like Throttle boddies, Fuel system ,Oil scavenge pump and oil system, Rads, Swirl pots. Oil coolers, Aeroqiup hoses and fittings etc. 2 sets of 18 inch magnesium wheels and a box of parts including brake hoses, aeroquip, catch tanks atc.
Also included are copies of the original FIA Homologation papers and component drawings by Reynard Racing. The original engine builder is still in business and has lots of bits like pistons, rods, cams and would be happy to turn the dummy engine into the 300BHP original.
A very rare opportunity and at a fraction of the cost of a running car.
P/X or swap cash either way for race car, road car, classic car etc.
