We can see from the Heritage Certificate that accompanies this immaculate little racer that it was a left-hand drive, ‘Export-spec’, Austin Mini Cooper 1275S built on 12/05/1967 and despatched to Sweden a few days later. We can also see that it was originally finished in Old English White with a Black roof, Red and Gold brocade trim and fitted with a heater.

It remained in Sweden until a few years ago when it returned to these shores to be converted to right-hand drive and turned into a competitive race car. FIA papers were issued in 2015 (Class CT7, Period F 1962-1965, valid until 31.12.25) and a UK road registration was also issued at the time of the build.

Our vendor, a well-known and respected historic racer, purchased this Mini from his friend, the legendary racing driver Steve Soper, a few years ago and it has been campaigned at events like the 2019 Goodwood Members Meeting under its current ownership. It’s currently fitted with a full-house, 1293S Swiftune unit by the legendary Nick Swift and has a massive spec (too long to list here) which includes a Custom Cage, Corbeau seat, OMP Harness and wheel, Owens foam-filled tank and more. It still wears its original black and white colour scheme and sitting on a set of black, Minilite-style alloys, it’s probably the smartest and most-professionally presented mini racer we have ever seen.

The 60th anniversary of the Cooper version of the Mini will be marked by two Mini-only races at the Silverstone Classic this year and we think this competitive, well-built 1293 could be the perfect opportunity to go and join the fun.
