Ford Escort RS2000 Mk2Advert ID: 40273 To Be Auctioned
Made between 1974 and 1981 the second generation Escort was one of the best selling cars of the day. Ford Motorsport capitalised on the well balanced chassis and homologated all the necessary parts on their RS2000 version of the car, to win rallies Nationally and Internationally. The top of the RS range was the RS2000 Custom, as offered here, featuring distinctive wheels, seats and dashboard - it was the final version of the 80's icon and produced in very limited numbers in 1979/80.
First registered in October 1980 in Northen Ireland, this distinctive Signal yellow RS 2000 Custom still retains the original rear window dealer sticker, tax disc holder and key fob. Our vendor, who has owned the car for the last 3 years, is the third keeper of the car from new and has maintained it in the totally original specification and condition in which he bought it.
The original dealer paperwork is still in the comprehensive history file which confirms the mileage of 40,044 as genuine. The three Ford original keys are still present, infact originality is the outstanding feature about this car with no visible upgrades or modifications from new. Under the bonnet remains as the factory produced the car, including the gearbox, making this a matching numbers example. Wheels and tyres are unmarked and carry new, original spec, Pirelli CN36 Cinturatos.
Fast fords are very topical at the moment and this low ownership and very original car offers the knowledgable collector a rare opportunity to have some fun yet invest wisely.
