Probably the nicest 1985 944 available today.This car is eligible for the historic targa/navigation events in the 1985 class, yes you will buy one for half the price, but not like this absolute beauty.

The car has just undergone a full restoration by an independent Porsche specialist in Wales, no expense spared during the build of the car. With over 400 hours work put into this rebuild, it has to be seen to be truly appreciated. This isn't just a car that has had a respray, it has had every section inspected and rebuilt if it needed the work. below is a list of some of the work carried out:


1985 Porsche 944 restoration work


Engine

New cambelt, balance belt and pulleys

Refurbished hydraulic lifters, new cam box gaskets and seals

New spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor arm

New fuel pump, fuel filter, fittings and fuel lines throughout the whole car

New fuel pressure regulator

Refurbished idle control valve

Stripped and cleaned throttle body, air flow meter, inlet manifold and vacuum lines

New crank and speed reference sensors

New DME relays and fuses

New rear exhaust box

New oil and air filters

Engine and gearbox oil change

Complete coolant flush and new coolant fitted.


Brakes

New brake discs and pads front and rear

New handbrake shoes and spring assemblies

Refurbished callipers which have been completely stripped, blasted with new pistons and seals

New brake lines and fixings all round, front to rear.

New flexible brake lines all round

New brake fluid

Suspension

Stripped, cleaned and repainted wishbones and struts

New sachs strut inserts

New sachs rear shocks

Upgraded anti roll bar and bushes from a later 944 for better handling, power flex bushes.

Repacked wheel bearings


Exterior

Solid rust free body prior to restoration, car had been in dry storage for 10 years.

Full glass out and panel off respray to high standard

Inner wheel arches and underside floor panels stripped and cleaned with new underseal applied

Rebuilt front end with correct front panels and bumper

Refurbished headlight units including strip down of headlight frame and new bulbs

New genuine porsche rubber trims for front and rear bumpers

New seals all round

Refurbished/new door handlesding strip down and rebuild of lock pins

New genuine badges and decals

Refurbished alloy wheels and new tyres to original spec

New washer bottle, pumps, lines and jets for headlights and windscreen

All lock barrels have been strippped, cleaned and re-greased


Interior

Bare shell repaint of interior panels including floor, boot and door skins

New acoustic insulation material to all floor panels

Refurbished interior carpets

Unmarked front and rear script seats, professionally cleaned and treated.

Stripped and refurbished dash assembly with correct instrument dials

Dials have been stripped and cleaned, including all cogs and gears.

New factory switches installed where needed

Rebuilt sunroof mechanism

New wiring loom for upgraded sound system

Refurbished centre consul and new genuine gearstick and boot

New struts fitted (bonnet and rear hatch)

General

Full three stage paint correction and detailing on completion of the build

New MOT with no advisories.

The car had previously been stored for 10 years until the garage obtained it, unfortunately the car was a CAT C back in the start of the 90's but during the rebuild the garage inspected the car and could't find any structural issues or mechanical problems. Absolutely any inspection invited.

Please don't let this issue put you off as back in the 90's these cars were still pretty new and parts were still pricey so the costs to repair would be different to today's market.

You will not find another early 944 built to this standard anywhere, the others that are listed on ebay have not had anywhere close to the amount of work and time put into them as this one has.
