Renault 5GT Turbo Coupe

Renault 5GT TURBO “Coupe” race car. Originally raced in the 1980’s Renault 5 Turbo “Cup” Series and latterly in the “Super Coupe” race series, with fastest laps and race wins, finally finishing 3rd overall in the Renault UK 30th Anniversary race at Thruxton in 2004.

Unused and rebuilt over the next few years with complete body refurbishment, seam-welded, stripped, E-coated at SPL, professional re-paint, and weld-in OMP roll cage fitted.

This was followed by several years of Sprinting and Hillclimbing, achieving many Class records and an outright win at Prescott.

In 2019 the car was reconfigured with Race wiring loom, lights etc and fuel system for 40 min races.

Both engine and gearbox are low competitive mileage. Engine is ‘Group A’ specification, all steel forged internals, electronic fuel injection and currently mapped for 225 BHP on 99 octane fuel for 40 min races. Option to upgrade to 250 BHP for short races/sprints etc.  Bodyshell is likely to be best available today. Engine is EFi with front intercooler.  Gearbox is 5-speed Dogtype straight cut,with Gripper LSD. Fitted Clio Williams subframe and wide track with Williams competition driveshafts. Alloy water radiator, Tar-ox front 6 pot brakes and Tar-ox rears. Group A rear axle and bars. Gaz Gold custom suspension.

Body all steel panels, poly rear and side windows, electric glass front windows and laminated screen. 360 Lifeline extinguisher.  Car comes with Speedline Clio race wheels 7” x 15” with Toyo tyres and a set of 8” x 15” Compomotive wheels for Sprint and Hillclimb use.
