Escort Mk1 Mexico/RS1600 Historic Rally/ Demo rally

Started life as one of the first Escort Mexico’s off the production line and used by Ford Motor Company as a Press car.

In the late 90’s the car had a 7 year rebuild as a replica of Roger Clark’s 1972 RAC winning RS1600 “LVX942J”

The original correct period parts were sourced to make it as accurate as possible (No copy parts used) 20 years later the car has still never been used in anger and looks like new, stored in a carcoon in heated garage, polished to death and serviced regularly and occasionally taken to a show.

Brief spec.

Type 49 spec heavy duty shell in pristine condition, never bumped or repair welded. Steel bubble arched, 4 linked, round turrets, full SD roll cage, works jacking points, double skinned bulkhead, ZF tunnel etc. Stunning paintwork and hand sign written back to period livery.

Professionally built 1700cc BDA, dry sumped, twin 45 Weber’s with correct air box etc (build sheet & dyno comes with car) Quick release ZF 5 speed gear box, direct top, multi plate clutch, floating Atlas axle with 5.1 LSD 2 piece shafts etc.

AP 4 pot forest specification brakes, alloy hubs, adj bias pedal box, WCXM, Bilstein dampers alround, high ratio steering rack, works Marston bag tank with twin quick fill fillers on both rear quarter pillars. Gomm dry sump tank (a little battered) Interior: works twin cowl dash with works dash assembly, Smiths chronometric instrumentation, pee lights, original mada centre console, Halda trip meter

Original Contour bucket seats, roof lining etc. Mag minilite wheels (also comes with new set wheels/tyres for road use) Magard lamp brackets with 4x Cibie oscers & period covers, Cibie headlights with quick release clear stone protectors, works indicators/side lights and the list goes on.

This is an an exceptional little car, great tribute to the 70’s era. It looks and sounds fantastic, starts on the key ready to enjoy.

Could be used for demonstrations rallies in UK or Europe, or better still with new safety equipment (seats/belts/extinguishers etc) could be used as it was intended for stage rallies or historic rallies etc.
