Car history after Skoda Motorsport and restoration details
-At the start of 2007 the car was brought and went to a few private owners / Motorsport teams.
-Erik Wevers was the first person to take private ownership of the car in 2007, then in late 2007 the car came to ireland to another private customer Eugene Donnelly. Eugene Donnelly kept the car from 2007 until 2009 in this time he took many overall rally wins such as the Donegal International Rally 2008, Galway international Rally 2009, Circuit of Ireland 2009, Jim Clark International rally 2009 and the Ulster Rally 2009.
-In 2010 the car then returned to Mainland Europe where it changed hands a few times and had drivers like Erik Wevers for his second spell behind the wheel, Alain Depierruex and finally owned by Eric Cunin.
-C&M Motorsport purchased the car early 2022 and put the restoration work into progress.
-Here at C&M Motorsport we fully understand that when restoring an Ex Works WRC car the workmanship has to be carried out to an unbelievably high standard. Having previously done WRC restorations and currently a few more in the pipeline we only use the very best engineers for such work.
When carrying out a restoration of an Ex Works WRC car the biggest decision to make is always whether to put the car into tarmac or gravel spec. We decided with this particular restoration to keep the car in tarmac spec and base it on the car Didier Auriol used in the 2003 Rally Sanremo, Rally D’Italia.
-Although Dider Auriol only finished 12th overall in this rally. The level of talent competing in the 2003 WRC championship really highlights and brings back such great memories of the WRC we have all loved and followed over this past 20 years.
-The 2003 Rallye Sanremo – Rallye D’Italia boasted a top 15 entry list of Marcus Gronholm, the late Richard Burns, Markko Martin, Francois Duval, Mikko Hirvonen, Petter Solberg, Tommi Makinen, Toni Gardemeister, the late Colin Mcrae, Sebastien Loeb and Carlos Sainz. What a true generation of rallying history this Skoda Fabia WRC comes from.
-As with a previous restoration we carried out on our 2007 Ford Focus WRC Stobart World Rally car and seen first hand the unbelievably high standard of workmanship we once again landed this project with with (RMC Motorsport) owned and run by Ronan McCrory (former M-Sport Engineer) to carry out the work.
-This car ticks the box for so many rally enthusiasts, it can be parked up as a rally collection piece in a showroom, it can be used in Rally Legends and Goodwood or it can be took to your local rally to compete.
-This car is a true piece of rallying history now sitting back to its original factory condition. The chance to own true motorsport history like this car doesn’t come up very often.
-We are delighted with how this car has turned out and are full of praise for everyone that played there part or carried out work on the car.
