Once in a Blue Moon a little gem becomes available, this one has only 30 starts and 4 owners in 34 Years, plus a Group B display spot at the McRae Rally Challenge at Knockhill race circuit.

This Unique 6R4 is the perfect blend of 1980’s Group B, F1, F2 and Lemans 24hr racing, bought as a Clubman Shell from the Group B stock following the Group B ban, Q777 RDS was registered (Q plate) from the very start, the car was Developed by Murray Grierson with some fantastic engineering and a BDT before upgrading to the Hart 420R, the Hewland FGB Gearbox was used extensively in F1, however the FGC was an up-rated version designed to cope with 24 hr racing, so naturally only the strongest Hewland Gearbox would do for Rallying, in the later years the 30 years old gearbox was the Achillies heel, so a major overhaul was ordered with Hewland Classic and new Linear bearings were installed to replace the sticky Nylon Bushings.

According to EWRC results Q777 was Campaigned by Murray Grierson from 1989-1992, with some notable results including 5 Wins, the other 3 owners are also listed on EWRC.


With the Hart engine placed in the middle, coupled to a Hewland FGC 5 speed dog box, it has a perfect weight balance, weight above the driving wheels and plenty of power, Put simply “ this thing is awesome!”

Chassis number 6R4 032 Has recently undergone a major rebuild including:

Bodywork                           New sills plus a proper tank floor (supplied by Panelcraft), epoxy primed plus several layers of 2K paint, original Doors and Aluminium Roof. extensive photo’s will be available with the car when a deal is struck.
