Ford Boss Mustang 302
ADVERT ID: 63706
Description
Ford Boss Mustang 302 – A genuine period Trans-Am car driven by John Hall from the early 1970s and prepared and campaigned successfully by the current long term owner in the UK and North America in more recent times.
Offered here is a very special period Boss 302 Mustang that was campaigned by John Hall in the early 1970s in the well known SCCA Trans-Am series. There is a list of period results below and the car is accompanied by a large history file detailing much of its history. There is simply too much to list here, so we recommend interested parties come along and see the car and history file for themselves or call our car specialist for further details.
The current owner is a real V8 enthusiast and this example has formed part of his prominent racing stable since 2003. He spent a lot of his time in the US during the early part of his ownership, enjoying much success at circuits such as Lime Rock and Watkins Glen, with results included in the file. The Mustang was then shipped to the UK in 2013 as the owner lives over here and after being prepared to European-spec, has been raced competitively in Europe ever since, including circuits such as Spa and Silverstone.
The car has been the recipient of significant investment in recent years, including an engine refresh by Peter Knight, fitment of AST custom dampers, a new clutch and more. It’s powered by a 337ci ‘stroker’ with ported Boss 302 heads, roller valvetrain and a dry-sump. The car has obviously been prepared to a high standard by Richard Moore (Moore Racing) as is evident from its consistent results over the years and there are a good number of spares accompanying the car including two body panels, L+R front headlamp surrounds and three spare diffs with different ratios. By separate negotiation, there is also a brand new FIA 302 V8 by Peter Knight. It’s currently finished in white and wearing the period correct ‘Boss GTX 302’ livery applied originally for the very successful 1972 season.
Quite simply, this is an extremely rare opportunity to own a period race car with continuous history that is available for the first time in 22 years and offers access into some of the best historic motorsport around the globe. Estimated very competitively when you consider the quality and provenance on offer, we welcome and encourage your earliest enquiry.
