For Sale: Ford Escort RS Turbo Group A Rally Car – Original, Low Mileage, Historic Time Capsule

Available on behalf of a client, this Ford Escort RS Turbo Group A rally car is an exceptional survivor – completely original, unmodified, and preserved in remarkable condition. A true motorsport time warp, it offers superb potential for invitations to prestigious demonstration events across the UK and Europe.

Commissioned by Ford Motorsport and prepared by Mike Taylor Developments, this very car was displayed on the Ford stand at the 1984 NEC Motor Show, promoting Group A rallying to prospective teams and drivers. The build and development reputedly cost over £100,000 – an enormous sum at the time.

After its Motor Show debut, the car was used for testing and demonstrations at Boreham before being retired to storage. Its provenance is exceptional, with a documented history that includes:

• Current and original V5 (in Ford Motor Company Ltd’s name)

• Ford production build records specific to this car

• Letter from Ford stating that in 1989 the car had covered just 148 miles

• MOT from March 1996 showing 374 miles

Acquired for a private collection in 2010, the Escort remains in exceptional order. The most recent MOT (August 2019) recorded just 572 miles – the odometer now reads 592 miles. In the past 15 years it has only been driven sparingly and displayed at selected events.
