Description

1993 Ford Escort Cosworth Group A – Genuine Works Car with Proven Factory Pedigree

Originally built in 1993 by the legendary Ford Motorsport division at Boreham, this authentic works Ford Escort Cosworth Group A was operated by R.A.S. Sport and remains one of the most significant examples of its kind.

Debuting at the 1995 Rallye Monte Carlo, it achieved an impressive 5th overall finish with Bruno Thiry behind the wheel. During the 1995 season, the car continued to excel under Thiry and Patrick Snijers, securing memorable victories at Boucles de Spa and Bianchi Rallye, the latter in its striking Bastos livery.

In 1996, the car returned to the UK under Ford Motorsport, competing internationally at events such as Rally Sweden (François Delecour), the Kenya Safari Rally (Stig Blomqvist), and the Acropolis and Finland rallies (Bruno Thiry)—cementing its global competition heritage.

More recently, this Escort Cosworth underwent a comprehensive mechanical restoration, including rebuilt turbocharger, gearbox, and axles. It has since performed faultlessly at the 2024 Eifel Rally Festival and the 2025 SpaRally, confirming its reliability and authenticity.

The engine has just been rebuilt with new pistons and valves and is currently being run in.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a factory-built Ford works car with documented history, outstanding provenance, and event-ready preparation—ideal for active use or inclusion in a premier motorsport collection.
