Porsche 911 RSR Homage 3.8-Litre
ADVERT ID: 82225
Description
Porsche 911 RSR Homage 3.8-Litre – This evocative RSR Homage presents a rare opportunity to acquire a superbly executed and beautifully developed, road-legal, re-creation of one of Stuttgart’s most celebrated competition cars.
Originally registered in Holland as a left-hand drive 3.0-litre SC during October 1980, this striking Porsche 911 RSR Homage represents a superbly executed recreation of one of Stuttgart’s most celebrated competition cars, blending period-correct aesthetics with carefully considered modern engineering.
The transformation from standard SC to RSR-inspired machine was initially undertaken in 2011 in the Netherlands, with a photographic record and supporting invoices documenting the build in the accompanying file. The quality and authenticity of the project were such that the car was subsequently featured in a Dutch Porsche magazine in 2012, further underlining its presence within the enthusiast community.
Acquired by its current, UK-based, enthusiast owner in November 2017, the car has since benefitted from significant further expenditure and development by marque specialists, Tech 9 and Shorade, completing and refining the previous vision to an exceptional standard.
At its heart lies a Porsche 964-derived flat-six, enlarged from 3.6 to 3.8 litres by Tech 9 and now producing an impressive 330bhp. Additional work included a new wiring loom and fuel system, both appropriate for the car’s competition ethos and, with a final weight of 1,035kg offering an impressive power-to-weight ratio, performance is exhilarating.
The bodywork faithfully reflects RSR styling, featuring lightweight glass fibre wings (replacing earlier carbon items), alongside a carbon fibre roof, bonnet and rear wing. The car sits on correct-style Crosthwaite & Gardiner RSR wheels (two sets included), shod with near-new Michelin TB5 or Pirelli Cinturato tyres depending on availability, supplied via Longstone/BMTR.
Underpinning the driving experience are Bilstein RSR coil springs and formidable 917-derived brakes, ensuring exceptional handling and retardation. A switchable exhaust system offers both subdued and more aggressive acoustic options, enhancing its versatility for road and track use alike.
The interior is purposefully focused, featuring a full roll-cage, competition harnesses, period-correct ‘lollipop’ seats, dashboard-mounted kill switch, and a comprehensive fire suppression system covering both engine bay and the cockpit.
Regularly serviced and described as “on the button,” the 911 is finished in the highly distinctive Gelb Grün (Yellow Green), one of the 15 colours used for the 1974 911 IROC RSR race cars. This evocative RSR Homage presents a rare opportunity to acquire a beautifully developed and highly usable example that captures the spirit of Porsche’s golden-era competition cars. Equally at home on road or circuit, and praised for its engaging, analogue driving experience, it also represents superb value for money when one considers the significant cost and expertise required to replicate such a build to this standard today.
