This stunning E28 5 series exerts so much nostalgia its actually quite hard to stand near it in person without quivering knees. Built as a nod to arguably the best decade of motorsport of all, an era of huge arches with manufacturers and sponsors throwing vast amounts of money at racing projects. Liveries adorned iconic machines that will be etched in your brain forever, just like the legendary Jägermeister stag and that bright orange. Designed with the intention of running in historic racing series in Europe we don’t think anyone would get bored of the attention this car would get in a paddock on any given race weekend.

Having been campaigned in the UK in the early noughties, the car had gone through a couple of owners since and was purchased requiring putting back together, having been in the barn of a classic BMW specialist. The new shell had already been acid dipped, electro plated, arches tubbed and multi-point cage welded in prior to purchase. The car was sent off to Coast2Coast Motorsport for the build up and they set about specifying parts for the car. The S38 M5 engine has the beauty of iTB’s combined with equal length race manifold, all mated to a Getrag 5 speed manual gearbox. The engine applies an Acusump system and produced around 360bhp, more than enough from the N/A six pot. Custom, solid mounted Gaz suspension was designed and manufactured whilst 750i Brakes help stop what is actually quite a light car for something that looks so big and aggressive thanks to fibreglass panels and poly windows. The interior was also made race ready with wrap around seats, flocked dashboard and digital dash. Zaprace arches and air dam combined with Wagner Tuning split rims make this car look as good as it goes.

Since its full rebuild and a second chance at being a fantastic race car, it has been featured in several BMW magazines but has seen very little track work. It was shaken down with us at Castle Combe by its current owners in 2021 on several occasions as well as a hand full of other circuits in the past couple of years having been a victim of COVID lockdown (no events), it remains in brilliant condition as is ready to use. The sale includes a strong history where it’s rebuild has been documented in photo form as well as having receipts and invoice for works completed. More images are available upon request. Viewing by appointment only. Can deliver at extra cost. Export assistance available. The owner is looking to race in another car this season so would like to offload this BMW prior to the season starting.
